I can’t believe a whole year has gone by since I wrote Our Learning Disabilities Blog Is One Year Old! Thank you to everybody who has subscribed, to our regular readers and to all of you who take the time to contact us or comment. It is good to know that you find the posts useful, interesting and helpful. We set out to share our experiences in case they were useful to other parents, care givers and educators and we are happy to know that they are.
This year we have finally got ourselves on Facebook. People had been telling us for ages that we must get ourselves on there but it took us a while to get our heads round how to actually do that! We’re there now though so look out for our logo.
We are posting all of our new blogs on Facebook as we write them and adding our back catalogue too. It’s early days yet so please come over to Facebook and give us a follow. The most popular post over on Facebook so far has been Helen’s blog ‘Don’t be Intimated by the Professionals – You Know Your Child.‘ My top Facebook post was the timely one about accessible ball games for the summer 🌞.

Helen and I post on alternate weeks so that each week there is something new for our readers. Helen posts from the parental perspective and I try to offer ideas for activities (recipes, craft projects, computer programs, outdoor activities) that might be useful for those in educational or day care settings.
Helen’s most popular post on our blog has been, as it was on Facebook too, Don’t be Intimated by the Professionals – You Know Your Child. This obviously struck a chord with many of our readers. My own most popular post this year has been ‘5 Great Free Apps for Young People with Additional Needs.’ Although to be honest all of my computer/app related posts have done well. If you haven’t’ seen them already check out ‘Topmarks for these great, free maths programs’ and ‘Try these 3 Great Free Sites for Online Colouring.’
Our Most Popular Pages
As last year the blog page and the recipe page remain the two most popular on our site. Of all the blogs, the ones written by Helen about and inspired by James are the most often read. And why wouldn’t they be – look at him!
On our recipe page the most popular recipes are all the chocolatey ones! I do offer savoury meal ideas too but chocolate remains the favourite.
